DIY Pin Project August

Very simple this month...using foam plates to store your dishes with. And the only reason you store plates is if you are planning on not using them for a while. Which is our case because we are moving to Thatcher! Into my parents two bedroom basement that is! I am actually really excited! If you knew my mom and she was your mom you would be excited too! The only bad part is Kameron is going to be commuting and will stay in Globe a couple nights a week, it's a little over an hour drive. But we are planning on saving a lot of money and getting out of debt! We are going Dave Ramsey style!! I am very sad to leave our ward, at least I can come visit if I need to. In the long run it will be good for our family, a new adventure!
While packing Jeter discovered his bumbo. And sat in it then decided to pick it up. He's not a baby any more! Sad day!

 Playing at the park.
We went to Thatcher a couple weekends to go to make sure we really wanted to make this move and just seeing Jeter safely play outside was the turning point for me. We live on a main road and this causes me so much anxiety it's amazing.
 New converse! Love them!
And one last shot, Jeter was turning in a circle just having fun and tripped on his foot and fell right into the coffee table. Poor little guy! It must have hurt a lot because he then puked all over me and his face was all white. My poor little man! But he is a trooper and still does crazy stunts that make my heart stop. Gotta love it!

Annie, let's be friends!

In all the fun to do furniture I have gotten to experience the world of Annie Sloan. She is a lady from the UK who makes a special chalk paint and she uses a clear and dark wax and a number of different techniques to re-make beautiful furniture!
So here is my Annie Sloan inspired desk:
I was so excited I forgot to take a before, but the first picture is a before the dark wax was put on.

After! I wish I had a good camera, the desk looks somewhat different in person. So sad because it really is a fun piece!

I was afraid of the hardware at first but it ended up working out perfectly and I love the spindle legs!

DIY Pin Project July 2012

This month has been very busy! And productive!
This is a before and after chair pair.
Before:
                                                                          After:

The best part is....These cute things are for sale! While we were in Minnesota the stars aligned and my mom's friend came across a boutique that had a booth open and they were looking for shabby chic furniture. We open this Wednesday! So my mom and I worked most of last week on tons of furniture and accessories. The shop is called "Oh La La" on Main St. in Downtown Mesa. It's actually connected to a cafe called Sweet Cakes. We are so excited and had so much fun painting and redoing so many beautiful pieces! My mom has an eye for detail and great finds and I love painting and the whole re-do process. Everything we did we wanted in our own homes! We are very excited to get our booth up and running!!!

Sand Lake, Minnesota!

We headed out Early (literally we left Globe at 3 am) on Aligent Air and endured a 3 hour flight. Jeter did well, we gave him some motion sickness pill but he stayed awake the entire time. I was glad to be back on the ground though!
First stop, Gordy's! I was so tired I could only get a picture in the side mirror of the car, Jeter fell asleep in the car before we even got to the restaurant but woke shortly after.
Finally at the water and settled into the cabin!
 Playing on the water trampoline!
 Wyatt playing in the water!
Father teaching son how to fish....
This resort is awesome! I love the atmosphere and the beach is perfect.
Jeter was helping with the chores one night, laundry and some vacuuming...

We took half the troops to the airport and my mom and I spent the day in Duluth, we had some yummy sandwiches!
This is a bad picture but we had a little swimming body suit for Jeter it was so funny!
 More fishing!
My first catch of the trip!
We kind of got rained out for a couple of days but we made the most of it! We actually caught most of the fish that day! And I won't complain to a little rain.

We had to rent the boats available at the resort because our boat died. It was left in Minnesota. Sad day, but it lived a long life and helped make many good memories! And we loved the pontoon boat!

Two fish hooked at the same time so we both reeled them in!

Golden Eagles nest! The eagle was huge I love seeing that kind of stuff so amazing!
We had a really good time and enjoyed fishing and playing settlers! Dontch'ya know!

Furniture!

I've found my passion in life. And it is furniture. Redoing it that is. I have had some fun projects recently:
This coffee table was a goodwill find! I forgot a before but here is the after! I topped it with a clear wax by Annie Sloan and it was awesome! I have to give a big thanks to Kameron for finding this!

I love doing furniture so much I want to start redoing furniture for people. Really anything that can be painted. This Hutch I did for a lady here in Globe and it's going into her store this week for sale! And I get to advertise in it! She is awesome I am so glad to meet her and will most likely be putting a lot of these pieces in her store!           Before:

After:
We went out this weekend looking for some pieces and I found this little desk. It called to me when I saw it so I had to have it, overlooking the fact that it was made of particle board and wasn't as stable as it seemed. But thanks to my awesome hubby this thing is so sturdy and particle board is the new oak! okay maybe not but this is a diamond in the rough for sure! Also going up for sale in "The Furniture Store" here in Globe!       Before:

After:
the handy support built by Kameron! This thing would be in trash if it weren't for him!

While we were in Utah I had this goal of coming home with something new to work on! The goodwill was unsuccessful but as I went out running the first morning I ran past this chair sitting by a trash can. I was like hmm I wonder if I could fix that? I thought about it alllll day and finally convinced myself and with a little support from Caryn "try it for free"! So I loaded it up and went to work. Once again I have Kameron to thank for helping me out deconstructing this chair it is still in the works...

To the right is the "naked chair" it's a work in progress!

And the other picture is the header footer I picked up!! I'm thinking Bench! I really want to try my hand at it...another work in progress...stay tuned!
I also ran into this desk and thought and thought about getting it. It looked so huge! I was afraid, but I built up the determination and I am glad I was so motivated because it needed new runners, paint, knobs, the whole nine yards, But I love it! I think I've already posted this desk but this is most of my collection thus far of projects. A few signs here and there some tables that have new homes and the dresser already in my bedroom.
